In this garden in Stone, we turned part of the lawn into a new dark grey slate patio, linked it to the existing patio with a stepping stone path, and created a neat new planter border.
Before
What we did
- New planter border: dug out a strip of turf to create a neat planting border, edged with stone blocks for a crisp, tidy line
- New patio: laid 16m² of dark grey slate paving from Paving Stones Direct where the lawn used to be
- Stepping stone path: created a paved stepping stone path linking the existing patio to the new one
Why slate?
Dark grey slate has a rich, natural colour and a subtle texture that looks smart all year round, and it contrasts beautifully with green lawn and planting.
