Decking is what we do best. We design, supply and install composite and timber decking in Stone and the surrounding area, including Stafford, Trentham, Eccleshall, Barlaston and Hilderstone. We can add balustrades, glass balconies and built-in deck lighting. Whether you’re replacing a tired, rotting deck or starting from scratch, we’ll help you choose the right material and build it to last.
Types of decking we install
- Composite decking. We supply and fit Dino composite decking. Composite won’t rot or splinter, and it doesn’t need sanding, staining or treating every year. A wash-down now and then keeps it looking good, which makes it the most popular choice for busy families.
- Softwood decking is the budget-friendly option. It can be stained to suit your garden, like the small decking pathway we finished in a charcoal stain.
- Hardwood decking gives you the look and feel of natural timber with extra durability.
We’re also happy to fit decking you’ve sourced yourself.
Built properly, from the ground up
A deck is only as good as what’s underneath it. On every job we:
- prepare the ground and deal with slopes. On one new-build garden in Stone we removed two tonnes of soil to get the right level
- build a level, well-supported sub-frame, strong enough for heavy loads when needed (we’ve built a raised deck to carry a 2–3 tonne hot tub)
- lay weed membrane and run the cabling for any deck lights before the boards go down
- finish with a picture-frame border that hides the cut ends for a crisp, professional edge
Attention to detail
We even line up the screws. We fix the first and last screw on each run, tie a string line between them, and then fit the rest along it, so every row is perfectly straight.

Decking FAQs
Should I choose composite or timber decking?
Composite costs more up front but needs very little maintenance and won’t rot or splinter. Timber is cheaper to install but needs regular treatment to keep it looking good. We’ll talk you through both for your garden and budget.
How much does decking cost?
As a guide, 10m² of timber decking is typically around £1,700 and 10m² of composite decking around £2,200, based on a standard sub-base. If the ground needs extra work, such as a deeper dig-out or levelling a slope, the price will rise slightly. We’ll always confirm this in your quote. See How much will it cost? for more.
Do I need planning permission for decking?
In England, most garden decking doesn’t need planning permission as long as it’s no more than 30cm above the ground and, together with any extensions and outbuildings, doesn’t cover more than half the garden. Raised decks, listed buildings and conservation areas can be different, so check with your local council if you’re unsure.
How long does it take to install a deck?
It depends on size and ground conditions. As a guide, our 40m² composite deck in Hilderstone took 10 days on site, including removing the old timber deck.
