Garden Rooms & Offices

website adminServices

Need somewhere to work from home, train, unwind or just get some space? We design and build garden offices, garden gyms, saunas and garden rooms in Stone and across Staffordshire. Every one is built from insulated SIPS panels, the same system Pete used to build his own self-build home, so it’s warm, solid and ready to use all year round.

What we build

  • Garden offices. A proper workspace at the bottom of the garden, away from the distractions of the house, with light, power and insulation so you can work comfortably in any season.
  • Garden gyms. Room for your equipment without giving up a spare bedroom or the garage.
  • Saunas. A sauna built into the corner of a garden room, or a dedicated sauna cabin.
  • Garden rooms and studios. A hobby room, a studio, a den or a quiet place to relax.

We built our own first

Before offering garden rooms to customers, we built one for ourselves. Our garden gym and sauna cabin replaced an old shed in Stone. It’s roughly 4m × 4m, sits on composite support posts, and has a SIPS panel structure, a rubber roof, uPVC patio doors, three floor-to-ceiling windows and dark grey composite cladding. It took about three weeks from foundations to finish. It’s a gym with a built-in electric sauna today, but swap the equipment for a desk and it’s a garden office.

Why SIPS panels?

  • Warm all year. SIPS panels have a solid insulation core bonded between two boards, so the whole building is very well insulated.
  • Strong and airtight. The panels form the structure of the floor, walls and roof, giving a solid, draught-free room.
  • Quick to build. Panels go up quickly, which keeps disruption to your garden to a minimum.
  • Proven. We’ve built a whole house with the same system, so we know it inside out.

Garden room FAQs

Do I need planning permission for a garden room or garden office?

Often not. In England, most garden rooms count as outbuildings under permitted development, as long as they’re single storey, not in front of the house, don’t cover more than half of the garden, and aren’t used as a bedroom. If it’s within 2m of a boundary, the overall height usually needs to stay under 2.5m. Different rules apply to listed buildings and some protected areas, so we’ll check your situation when we quote.

Do I need building regulations approval?

A garden room with less than 15m² of internal floor space, and no sleeping accommodation, usually doesn’t. Larger rooms up to 30m² can also be exempt if they’re at least 1m from the boundary or built from mostly non-combustible materials. Electrics always need to meet Part P, which is why ours are installed and certified by a qualified electrician.

Can I use a garden room all year round?

Yes. Because the floor, walls and roof are all insulated SIPS panels, it stays warm in winter, especially with a small heater.

How long does it take to build?

Our own 4m × 4m garden room took about three weeks from foundations to finish. Every build is different, and we’ll give you a timescale when we quote.

Can it be a gym now and an office later?

Yes. The building itself doesn’t change, only what you put in it. That flexibility is one of the best things about a garden room.
