This garden in Tittensor had a large concrete shed base and sloping ground that made it hard to use. We cleared it, levelled it and rebuilt it from top to bottom into a modern, low-maintenance garden on two levels.
Stage 1: Excavation and levelling
We broke out the old concrete shed base and levelled the sloping ground. The concrete and rubble filled two 8-yard skips. No soil needed to be taken away: we levelled out the existing ground instead.
Stage 2: The retaining wall
To hold the new levels, we built a retaining wall from concrete blocks. We then reused the 600 x 900mm concrete slabs we’d taken up, fixing them to the front of the wall for extra strength and a flat face ready for cladding. Nothing went to waste.
