18m Closeboard Fence with Concrete Posts, Stone

This customer in Stone had an old timber fence that had seen better days. We replaced it with 18m of new brown featheredge closeboard fencing, set on concrete posts and concrete gravel boards for a fence that’s built to last.

What we did

  • Took down and removed the old timber fence
  • Installed 9 brown featheredge closeboard panels, 6ft high, over an 18m run
  • Set concrete posts and 1ft concrete gravel boards, so no timber sits in contact with the ground
  • Stepped the fence down by 1m to follow the garden: the first two panels sit at house level, and the rest drop down to the lower garden

Why concrete posts and gravel boards?

Timber posts and the bottom of fence panels are usually the first things to rot, because they’re in contact with wet soil. Concrete posts and gravel boards won’t rot, so the timber panels last longer, and a panel can be swapped out on its own if it’s ever damaged.
